Xtra Time Web Desk: India avoided follow-on in the 3rd Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, courtesy of a heroic final wicket partnership between Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep. On Day 4 of the Gabba Test, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja toiled hard to rescue India from 51/4 at the start of the day's play.

After Australia were able to remove Rahul and Jadeja, they faced resistance from Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, who added an unbeaten 39 runs for the final wicket on a stop-start day. While India avoided follow-on, earning huge cheers from the dressing room, they are still behind by 193 runs.

India have a monumental task ahead of them to save the Test match, but might be helped by the weather at Brisbane, which is once again expected to rain on Wednesday, 18 December.

As per the latest weather reports, rain is once again expected at the Gabba on the final Day of the Test match. Brisbane is going to see the majority of its rainfall in the early morning hours. There is a 90 per cent chance of rainfall in the morning on Wednesday, Day 5 of the Test match. Accuweather has included a minor flood warning for the place as well.

For the later part of the day, the conditions are going to be overcast with chances of isolated showers in the match hours. The prediction works well for India, who will hope to eke out a draw after being outplayed for the first 3 days of the Test match.

India seniors Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed with the bat in the Test match, putting India in a perilous position. The team will hope that they pick themselves up in the last two Test matches of this series, set to be held in Melbourne and Sydney.
