BGT 2024-25: Dinesh Karthik reveals Rohit Sharma's struggle with confidence and technique
Xtra Time Web Desk: India captain Rohit Sharma faced sharp criticism following his underwhelming performance in the 3rd Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Gabba. On Day 4, Sharma managed just 10 runs before edging to wicketkeeper Alex Carey, leaving India in a precarious position. Social media was abuzz with criticism, pointing out his struggles in the format.
Analysing Sharma's form on Cricbuzz, former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik highlighted the technical flaws creeping into the opener's game, attributing them to a dip in confidence.

"I think Rohit will be very disappointed in himself," Karthik remarked. "Even today, you could see that he played slightly in front. Rohit is not someone who lunges forward for the ball; he usually plays close to his front pad. But here, he has gone ahead, which shows that his form is not where he would like it to be."
Karthik noted that Sharma's aggressive white-ball approach, which has been celebrated, might not be translating well in Test cricket, particularly on challenging surfaces.
"It's time for him to shift gears and guts it out. He needs to avoid risky shots on such pitches and back his technique," Karthik added.

The former RCB player underlined Sharma's vast experience in international cricket, stating that he has the skill to address these flaws and rise to the occasion.
"Rohit Sharma has played a decade and a half of international cricket. If you say his technique isn't water-tight, I'd be surprised. He has vulnerabilities, like everyone, but what India needs is a mentally tough Rohit Sharma," Karthik concluded.
As India looks to bounce back in the series, all eyes will be on their skipper to show resilience and lead by example.
