Xtra Time Web Desk: Ravichandran Ashwin, expressed his dismay at the current state of Pakistan cricket after they suffered a 2-0 whitewash against Bangladesh at home. Bangladesh made history by securing their first-ever Test series win over Pakistan, defeating them by 10 wickets in the first Test in Rawalpindi and then following it up with a six-wicket victory in the second Test at the same venue. The win was especially remarkable as Bangladesh was reeling at 26/6 in their first innings.

Ashwin, visibly disappointed, highlighted Pakistan's extended home drought. "It’s been over 1000 days since Pakistan won a Test at home," he remarked on his YouTube channel. Pakistan’s last home victory came in February 2021 against South Africa, and since then, they have gone 10 home Tests without a win, losing six and drawing four. This slump has seen Pakistan’s Test ranking fall to No. 8, their worst since 1965.

The Indian spinner also expressed his sympathy for Pakistan’s cricketing legends like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Imran Khan, saying, “What a legacy their team has, but it's difficult to believe where they are now." Despite acknowledging Bangladesh’s progress, Ashwin couldn’t help but feel for Pakistan, especially their captain Shan Masood, given the challenging situation within the team.
