Xtra Time Web Desk: India are gearing up to return to Test cricket after more than five months, as they prepare for a two-match series against Bangladesh, starting next week. This will be part of India's home campaign in the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. Having already defeated England 4-1 earlier in March, they will follow this series with another against New Zealand before heading to Australia in December to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Ahead of the series, Team India gathered in Chennai for a training camp, where players selected for the first Test began their preparations. On Friday, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, both pivotal to India’s chances, took center stage under the watchful eyes of head coach Gautam Gambhir and bowling coach Morne Morkel. Kohli arrived in Chennai directly from London, while Bumrah is set to make his return after a long injury layoff.

On the second day of training, an interesting moment caught attention. A video shared by Jio Cinema showcased opener Yashasvi Jaiswal bowling leg-breaks to seasoned spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Though Jaiswal has limited experience with the ball, having bowled just one over in his nine-Test career and a T20I against West Indies, the team management seems keen to explore additional bowling options, a trend seen under Gambhir’s leadership.

In recent months, several batters like Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh have been used as part-time bowlers. This strategy could be key, especially with the Chennai pitch expected to assist pacers. While Ashwin and Jadeja remain India’s primary spinners, Jaiswal could become a handy third option.
