Xtra Time Web Desk : Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard shared the same dressing room until the previous IPL season 2021. Both of them shared a good rapport with each other. After spending a few seasons together, both faced each other for the second time in IPL 2022 as Mumbai Indians took on Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede stadium.
Although Lucknow Super Giants defeated Mumbai Indians by 36 runs, on a personal front both Krunal and Pollard shared honours by taking each other’s wicket in the match. It was the burly Trinidadian who dismissed Krunal for 1 in the Lucknow Super Giants innings. Krunal then went to do the same as he sent Pollard back by having him caught at long on boundary by Deepak Hooda for an uncharacteristic 19 off 20 balls.
Immediately after picking the wicket of his former teammate, Krunal rushed and kissed Pollard’s helmet. After the match, Krunal shared a cheeky reply on being asked about his celebration.
According to Krunal, “I was so thankful that I got his wicket otherwise he would have eaten my brain throughout my life because he got me out and now that it’s 1-1 at least he will speak less.”.
The win helped Lucknow Super Giants leapfrog Royal Challengers Bangalore to the fourth spot on points table while Mumbai Indians stayed at the bottom after losing their 8th consecutive match in the ongoing edition of IPL.
