Xtra Time Web Desk: Test skipper Virat Kohli recalled a piece of advice that he got from former Team India captain MS Dhoni, on the ongoing controversy about Pant’s reckless batting approach in the second test against South Africa at the Wanderers, Johannesburg.

The 24 year-old, Pant is known for its outstanding batting skills in the field, was charging down the track against Rabada but nicking the ball to wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne. His reckless batting approach put the crowd in disappointment.

Despite criticisms, Kohli had Pant’s back. He said, “We had a conversation with Rishabh during practice. The shot that a batsman plays to get out, he is the first to know whether it was right according to the situation or not… We all have made mistakes in our careers in important situations.”

We have all got out, sometimes due to pressure, sometimes due to the bowler’s skill. It’s very important to understand that what was the mindset at that moment, what decision you took and what was your mistake there. As long as we keep accepting our mistakes, we will improve and make sure that we don’t repeat those,” added Kohli.

Kohli also recalled the advice that he had got from Dhoni, which mentioned, “I have talked about this many times that MS Dhoni told me that there should be a gap of 7-8 months between two mistakes, then only you have a big career in international cricket.”

Team India and South Africa will fight to it’s best as the series tied at 1-1 in the third and final Test of the series at the Newlands, Cape Town. Team India is looking forward to win the first ever Test series against South Africa.
