XtraTime Web Desk: Indian cricket team’s star opener KL Rahul has written his name in the history books today when he took a diving catch at mid-on to sent Stuart Broad back to the pavilion today during the fifth test between India and England at the Oval.

With this Rahul took his 13th catch of the test series. He is the first cricketer to do so in England. The earlier record was under South Africa’s John Ikin who took 12 catches in the year 1951.

Broad tried to play an aggressive shot but the ball took a top edge and went very high in the sky. From his mid-on position Rahul ran back and dived forward to clap his 13th catch of the series. After achiving this feat Rahul showed one and three with his fingers to show his achievement.

By achieving this record, he equaled legendary Rahul Dravid’s record who took 13 catches during Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India & Australia back in 2004-05 season. But the most catches record is under Australia’s legendary cricketer Jack Gregory who took 15 catches in 5 matches during the Ashes back in 1920-21 season.
