Xtra Time Web Desk: Two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday bid an emotional farewell to their head coach Brendon McCullum after ending their IPL 2022 campaign. McCullum, who has been appointed as the coach of England test team will be traveling to England where he will join Ben Stokes and his boys ahead of the series against New Zealand.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday took to Twitter to post a video in which CEO Venky Mysore, players, and members of support staff gathered to give a heartwarming farewell party to the legendary New Zealander. McCullum, also a former KKR player, was appointed as the franchise’s head coach ahead of IPL 2020. Under his guidance, KKR reached the final of IPL 2021 season.

“Firstly, Venky, a big thank you to you. I appreciate not just us but also the words that you’ve said and the support you’ve given me over the years. It was three years ago when Venky took a chance on me as a coach, and since then it’s been a pretty steep learning curve. And I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. Even the tough times have been great learning opportunities as well. So a big thank you to you, Venky, Jay (Mehta) and Shah Rukh as well… for all their support,” McCullum said in his farewell speech.

“I just wanted to say, I love all you boys as well. I know the seasons don’t always pan out how you want them to. But I just love all the effort that you guys have put in. My style of coaching, as you know, is not necessarily about cricket. It’s more about life and about relationships and trying to give you guys confidence and to be able to take some of the pressures and anxieties in the game. I believe you guys have trusted me to be able to help you out. So, thank you for that,” he added.
