Internet Desk: India’s ace women cricketer Jhulan Goswami added another feather to her cap. Goswami on Tuesday reached a milestone by becoming the highest wicket taker in ODI’s.  She overtook Australia’s Cathryn Fitzpatrick to lead the list of bowlers in women’s cricket. Jhulan now has 181 victims compared to Fitzpatrick’s 180 wickets.

Jhulan achieved the feat against South Africa in the Women’s Quadrangular Series in Potchefstroom. She bagged 3 wickets for 20 runs in 7.3 overs. She dismissed Raisibe Ntozakhe to reach the milestone. Her previous two scalps were of Nadine de Klerk and Masabata Klaas.

Former India women’s captain and presently one of the key member of the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators Diana Eduljee congratulated Jhulan over the phone. According to Eduljee,

“This is an absolute brilliant achievement. I spoke to her and congratulated her. Hope she can continue her form leading up to the ICC Women’s World Cup in June.”

The 34 year old made her ODI debut in 2002 against England. Regarded as one of the fastest bowler in women’s cricket, Jhulan won the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year award in 2007, the Arjuna Award in 2010 and the Padma Shri in 2012.

Born in a village in Nadia district of West Bengal, Jhulan is also the all-time leading wicket taker in women’s cricket with 271 International wickets (Tests, ODIs and T20I). She also holds a decent batting record, as she averages 25.72 in tests including two fifties. She has also scored 919 runs from 153 matches so far.
