Jasprit Bumrah rejoins Indian squad in Colombo for Super-4 stage matches in Asia Cup 2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has re-joined the squad in Colombo after a paternity break. Bumrah had left Sri Lanka following India’s first game against Pakistan on September 2, in order to be with his family for the birth of his first child. This break caused him to miss the second league match against Nepal on September 4. However, he has rejoined the team just in time for India’s first Super 4 match against Pakistan on Sunday.

Bumrah will participate in the team’s practice session at the R Premadasa Stadium on Friday evening. The Indian team may have to practice indoors due to the anticipation of inclement weather, as they did on Thursday. However, there is hope for an outdoor session if the weather improves later in the evening, as there has been no rain in Colombo since Friday morning. Bumrah’s return is a boost for the Indian team as they gear up for this crucial match against Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.

Meanwhile, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has wisely designated a reserve day for Sunday’s fixture due to persistent inclement weather in Colombo. If weather conditions affect the game on the scheduled day, it will resume on Monday from where it left off. It’s worth noting that no reserve days have been allocated for the other Super 4 matches due to their back-to-back schedule, but a reserve day has been kept for the final match in case of rain.
