ISL 2021-22: New season to be held in Goa from mid-November; UAE, Qatar also among shortlisted venues

ISL 2021-22 likely to be held in Goa from mid-November

Xtra Time Web Desk: The new season of Indian Super League (ISL 2021-22) will be held in Goa from mid-November confirmed Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) on Wednesday. In an online meeting held between the CEOs of all ISL clubs and organizers FSDL, the clubs have been asked to begin preparations for the new season.

While Goa, Bengal and Kerala were shortlisted as the three states to host ISL, Goa is believed to be the first choice having successfully hosted the 2020-21 ISL editions inside a bio-secure bubble.

However, unlike last time, FSDL have asked the clubs to make their arrangements i.e., Training grounds, hotel etc. Last season, FSDL had shortlisted training grounds and hotel, but this time they have given the freedom to stakeholders for logistics.

It was also decided that in case the league moves out of Goa, it will be held in UAE and Qatar.

“There are concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic. Nobody has an idea about the third wave in India and how badly it will affect us. If things go out of hand, the league will be held either in Qatar or UAE,” the source was quoted by TOI as saying.

The new season of ISL will start in mid-November and end in March.
