Xtra Time Web Desk : A brilliant brace from forward Manvir Singh on Tuesday helped ATK Mohun Bagan to seal a clinical 2-0 win over their opponents FC Goa in what was an eventful clash in all means.
The match started with both the teams playing attacking football, although the Mariners took an early lead on the 3rd minute, courtesy of the dynamic Manvir Singh, who didn’t miss the target this time.
The first half though continued with Juan Ferrando’s former side playing possessional football and the Green and Maroon replying them with clinical counter attacks. It was an end to end affair, although the first half had no further goals. But towards the end of the first 45, the lights in the Bambolim stadium went off to create an unnecessary disturbance.
The second half although was a much more eventful one with Manvir scoring his second goal of the match in the 46th minute from a Gaurs’ defensive mistake. Also, there were penalty claims from the Mariners’ footballers only to see them waived by the referee.
Juan Ferrando’s side, playing clinical football had more chances to score, but weren’t able to take them, which however didn’t stop them from moving into the second place in the league table.
