Xtra Time Web Desk : ATK Mohun Bagan on Thursday clinched a slender 1-0 win over a lowly placed Chennaiyin FC, courtesy of a first half added time goal by Roy Krishna.
The Mariners were vowing for the ISL shield when they took the field against Chennaiyin and did their best as they came up with three points in their bag to keep their stakes alive for the Shield.
The match was expectedly controlled by Juan Ferrando’s side, although the team from South did hit the Green and Maroon on counter attacks.
The Green and Maroon, also huge favourites in the game had more possession of the ball and created more chances which finally capitalised when their captain Roy Krishna scored at the cusp of added time (45+3) to put his team ahead in the match.
In the second half though, both teams got opportunities but weren’t able to pounce upon them which kept the match 1-0 at the end of 90 minutes, registering a clutch win for ATK Mohun Bagan.
Now, with 37 points ATK Mohun Bagan are level on terms with table toppers Jamshedpur FC with one more match played.
They will now take on Jamshedpur FC on Monday in a high voltage Shield deciding clash.
