Ishan Kishan to open the batting for Mumbai Indians, says MI skipper Rohit Sharma | IPL 2022

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma on Thursday made it clear that he is looking to play all the games in IPL 2022. There were speculations that Rohit, who is also the captain of India will be skipping a few matches in the cash rich league. In a virtual press conference on Thursday facilitated by Mumbai Indians, Rohit said that there are no issues and he will play all the matches in IPL 2022.


Mumbai Indians had let go Quinton de Kock, who together with Rohit formed a dangerous opening pair in IPL last few seasons. On being asked who he will open with, Rohit said he will open the batting with Ishan Kishan.
The young wicket keeper batter from Jharkhand was brought by Mumbai for a whopping INR 15.25 crore , making him the most expensive buy in IPL 2022 mega auctions.

The upcoming IPL 2022 season will see the introduction of new rules that has been proposed by MCC. Talking about the new rules in IPL 2022, Rohit said, the batters will have to be cautious about Mankading. The MI captain also said he liked the extra DRS and how it will help rectify mistakes. He reckons it is a good move to have two DRS like the international matches.


Suryakumar Yadav will miss the opening encounter as he is still undergoing his rehab at the National Cricket Academy. According to Rohit, Surya is at NCA. Mumbai Indians management are waiting for him to join them, once he get the clearance from NCA.


Mumbai Indians have released Hardik Pandya who has been an integral part of the franchise. Hardik has been made the captain of Gujarat Titans franchise. Speaking on Hardik’s absence, Rohit said, It was the rule. They could not go beyond that and they knew they would be missing out on big players.
