Xtra Time Web Desk: Indian superstar batter Virat Kohli has crossed the 7,500-run milestone in the Indian Premier League. This achievement was reached during Match 19 of IPL 2024, where Kohli was representing Royal Challengers Bangalore against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium on 6th April. As the tournament's top run-scorer, Kohli became the first player to surpass the 7,500-run mark in IPL history.

He reached this mark in his 242nd innings. He now has over 7,500 runs at an average of more than 37. The tally includes a strike rate of over 130.29. Kohli has 52 half-centuries and a record seven tons in the cash-rich league.

Kohli struck 3 sixes and 4 boundaries on his way to reaching fifty. It was an innings filled with clear intent right from the outset, especially after RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl on a favourable batting pitch at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. With the T20 World Cup 2024 on the horizon, questions have been continuously asked about Kohli’s strike rate in the shortest format of cricket. And today’s half century might have been faster than the previous fifties but yet was a slow one. Only Speculations can be made regarding his inclusion in the T20 WC squad until the squad is announced.

Kohli also broke a 16-year drought without an IPL fifty at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, by achieving a 39-ball half-century during RCB's IPL 2024 clash against Rajasthan on Saturday, April 6. Kohli's exceptional start to the new season persisted as he secured his third fifty in five matches since his return from a paternity break.
