Xtra Time Web Desk: In IPL 2024 match against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Virat Kohli smashed the first century of the season for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Kohli reached his hundred in just 67 deliveries with a strike rate of 156 after RCB was put in to bat. This remarkable innings extended his record tally of IPL centuries to eight and his overall T20 career centuries to nine. This was his third century in last seven IPL innings, and first against RR. With 8 centuries, he sits right on top of the IPL centurions’ list.

Kohli tops the list of batters with the most centuries in IPL history, boasting seven centuries in his career. Notably, the 35-year-old Kohli had achieved two centuries last season while accumulating 639 runs in 14 matches. Additionally, this century marked his highest score against RR in the IPL. Kohli remained 113 not out and took his team to a fighting total failure from other batters except skipper Faf du Plesis.

After going eight seasons without a century, Kohli broke the drought with a remarkable four centuries in the IPL 2016 season, where he led his team to the finals. Kohli amassed 973 runs in that season, setting a record that still stands as the benchmark in the league.
