Xtra Time Web Desk: Lucknow Super Giants continued their winning streak in the ongoing IPL 2023 as they defeated SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 5 wickets at Shri Atal Bihari Bajpayee stadium on Friday. Lucknow successfully chased down a target of 122 in just 16 overs, moving to the top of the points table with their second consecutive win at home.
Krunal Pandya was the star of the match with his all-round effort, picking up 3 wickets for 18 runs in his 4 overs and also smashing a quickfire 34 runs with the bat. Lucknow’s spin-heavy bowling attack, also featuring Amit Mishra and Ravi Bishnoi, choked SRH’s batting lineup on a sluggish pitch, picking up 6 wickets between them and restricting SRH to a modest total of 121 for 8 in 20 overs.
In the chase, KL Rahul led the way for Lucknow with a solid knock of 35 runs, supported by Krunal’s aggressive batting. Despite a couple of quick wickets towards the end, Nicholas Pooran finished it off with a winning six in the 16th over, sealing a comfortable victory for Lucknow Super Giants.
With this win, Lucknow moved to the top of the points table, leapfrogging defending champions Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings. They will be looking to continue their winning momentum when they face Royal Challengers Bangalore away from home on Monday, April 10. On the other hand, SRH will be aiming to bounce back from their second successive defeat when they take on Punjab Kings at home on Sunday, April 9.
