Xtra Time Web Desk : Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nayar on Wednesday heaped praise upon skipper Shreyas Iyer and compared him with that of Team India skipper Rohit Sharma ahead of the franchise’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Opening up to the Times of India in a press conference, Nayar said, “In terms of personality traits, Shreyas is very much similar to Rohit Sharma. He is just like Rohit in terms of his personality, in terms of being easy-going, in terms of empowering the cricketers. He empowers the players to play the style of game they want to play,”
The Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise started their campaign with a huge 6 wicket win over defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the first match of tournament. The win gave Iyer a winning start to his career as KKR’s full time skipper.
“The confidence and personality that Shreyas carries on the field, there are a lot of similarities with Rohit (Sharma). He is a player who goes from strength to strength. He is a young captain. I think, in the future he is definitely someone who is going to don the Indian colours as a captain as well,” further added Nayar.
