IPL 2022: Sanjay Bangar named as Head Coach of RCB

Xtra Time Web Desk: Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday named Sanjay Bangar as the Head Coach of the franchise for the next two seasons of Indian Premier League (IPL). The former Team India batting coach will replace Simon Katich as the Head Coach of RCB. Mike Hesson will continue as the Director of Cricket.

The Bangalore based franchise will have a new Head Coach and captain for the next season as Virat Kohli has already stepped down from captaincy after the IPL 2021. Ahead of the mega auction, Bangar will be working closely with Hesson.

“Our work has already begun in terms of auction strategy. I would like to assure each of the RCB fans that we are committed to building a strong squad and we are committed to fulfilling the long-cherished dream of winning an IPL trophy,” Bangar said in a statement.

Commenting on his new role, Sanjay Bangar said, “It’s an honour and great opportunity to serve such a great franchise in the capacity of Head Coach. I have worked with some exceptional and talented members of the squad and can’t wait to take this team to the next level.”
