Xtra Time Web Desk : An incredible history making half century from Pat Cummins on Wednesday helped Kolkata Knight Riders seal a thrashing 5 wicket win over Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League at the Pune Cricket Stadium.

Being put into bat first, the Mumbai Indians batting line up went off to a slow start as the Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers bowled brilliant lines to dismiss skipper Rohit Sharma cheaply, before debutant Dewald Brevis struck a fine 29 to give their team that initial platform.

Brevis’ fine innings was followed by a superb knock of 52 by Suryakumar Yadav who then struck a partnership with young Tilak Varma to take their score to a respectable total before a short explosive innings of 22* from Kieron Pollard helped Mumbai reach a fighting total of 161 in their 20 overs.

Coming into bat second, the KKR side lost wickets at regular intervals although opener Venkatesh Iyer scored a steady 50* to hold one side and played the role of an anchor throughout the innings.

But it was then Pat Cummins who then scored an incredible 56* off just 15 balls and turned the game on it’s head as he hit sixes all round the ground to crush the Mumbai Indians bowling line up and helped his team reach the finishing mark quite easily.
