IPL 2021: Taliban bans the broadcast of IPL matches in Afghanistan due to ‘anti-Islamic’ content

Xtra Time Web Desk: The cricket fans in Afghanistan will be deprived from watching the matches of IPL 2021 which started in Dubai with the match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The live telecast of the matches in IPL 2021 in Afghanistan has been banned by the Taliban due to ‘anti-Islam content

The presence of cheerleaders and women spectators without any cover on their head in the stands are against the sentiments of Islam according to the Taliban-led Afghanistan government. According to the Taliban government the IPL 2021 matches are endorsing content against their faith. As such the UAE leg of the gala tournament won’t be telecasted in Afghanistan.

The same was mentioned by senior journalist Ibrahim Momand. It has to be noted that Momand is a former media manager of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

“Afghanistan national Radio, Television will not broadcast the @IPL as usual as it was reportedly banned to live the matches resumed tonight due to possible anti-Islam contents, girls dancing & the attendance of barred hair women in the Stadium by the Islamic Emirates of the Taliban,” tweeted Momand.
