IPL 2021, Phase 2: WICB to reschedule CPL schedule to ensure availability of Caribbean players

Xtra Time Web Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has got a huge boost as far as the availability of Caribbean cricketers is concerned. The West Indies Cricket Board has finally given its consent to reschedule the schedule of upcoming Caribbean Premier League. The CPL which was scheduled to take place from August 28 – September 19 will now begin from September 25. The final of the CPL 2021 will take place on September 15.

 “CWI is doing our best to help facilitate a smooth transition from CPL to IPL, without a conflicting overlap,” Ricky Skerritt, the president of CWI, told Cricbuzz confirming the proposed changes in the schedule.

The development took place after BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had a discussion with Pete Russell, the COO of Caribbean Premier League.

It has been already decided that the remainder of the 2021 Indian Premier League will be played between September 19 and October 15 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“IPL will be held between September 19 and October 15,” confirmed Rajeev Shukla, vice-president of the BCCI.
