Xtra Time Web Desk: Dinesh Karthik is ready to lead Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the remaining matches of IPL 2021 if he is asked to by the KKR management. Karthik was at the helm with KKR before he decided to step down mid way in 2020 season in UAE. Eoin Morgan was given the charge.

With Eoin Morgan doubtful for the remaining matches as England and Wales Cricket Board is unlikely to release its players for IPL 2021 Phase 2, KKR might have to look for someone else to lead the side. Australian pacer Pat Cummins too have made it clear that he would not like to return for the remaining matches of IPL 2021.

Karthik made it clear that if in any case, Morgan is unable to make it to the UAE, he has no problem in leading the side.

“Pat Cummins has himself said that he will not come. But when it comes to Eoin Morgan, there are still three months to go. A lot can change from now till September. But if I am asked to lead, I will be ready for it,” said Karthik in an interview with the Times of India.

Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise was reeling at seventh place on the points table having only two victories in seven games before the IPL 2021 got suspended.
