IPL 2021 Phase 2: BCCI gets full assurance from Emirates Cricket Board to hold the remaining matches in UAE

Xtra Time Web Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday received the assurance from the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to stage the remaining matches of IPL 2021.  According to a report by Gulf News, a delegation of top BCCI officials including BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, Vice President Rajiv Shukla, Treasurer Arun Dhumal and IPL Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel met Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly could not be present in the meeting as he flew in with his family to Dubai late in the day. Ganguly will stay put in Dubai for next 3-4 days along with the other BCCI official and for a recce of the venues.

Like last year, the remaining matches of IPL 2021 will be played across three venues in UAE – Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Sharjah. The Indian cricket board is planning to re-start the IPL 2021 from September 17 with the final likely to be staged on October 10 at Dubai International Stadium.
