IPL 2020: Suresh Raina congratulates MS Dhoni for this reason

XtraTime Web Desk: Suresh Raina has congratulated MS Dhoni on Friday after the Chennai Super Kings captain became the most capped player in the history of IPL. The veteran wicket-keeper batsman achieved this feat after he went on to the field to play an IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Incidentally, MS Dhoni broke Suresh Raina’s record to achieve the incredible feat. MS Dhoni now has 194 IPL games to his name, one more than Suresh Raina who has pulled out of this year’s tournament. After this feat, Raina tweeted,” Congratulations Mahi bhai (@msdhoni) at becoming the most capped IPL player. Happiest that my record is being broken by you. All the best for the game today and am sure @ChennaiIPL will win this season’s @IPL.

With 194 IPL matches, Dhoni overtook Raina, who is not part of the cash rich league this season. The left hander returned home despite traveling to UAE, citing personal reasons.

Dhoni has been an integral member of the Chennai Super Kings squad having led the franchise to three IPL titles. He was part of the Rising Pune Supergiants squad in 2016 & 2017 editions of the IPL. In the 193 IPL matches, Dhoni has scored 4476 runs at an average of 42.22.

In the ongoing season, the 39-year-old hasn’t played an impactful innings till now. In the last two seasons, Dhoni was contributing with the bat having scored 400+ runs in both the IPLs. This is the first IPL for Dhoni post his international retirement on August 15. He has so far scored 44 runs from 3 matches.
