IPL 2020: Dhoni to be part of CSK till 2022, says CEO Kashi Viswanathan

XtraTime Web Desk: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) shall be part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the next two editions of Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2021 and 2022, according to the CEO of the franchise Kashi Viswanathan. The talismanic captain will lead the Yellow Army in the 13th edition of the IPL in UAE starting from September 19. Dhoni has led Chennai to three IPL titles making it one of the most successful franchises after Mumbai Indians.

“Yes. We can expect MS Dhoni to be part of both (IPL 2020 and 2021) and probably for even the next year – 2022,” Viswanathan told indiatoday.in.
The wicket-keeper batsman from Ranchi has recently started training at the JSCA indoors. Dhoni started knocking with the bowling machines as no net bowler was available due to the lockdown. The CSK skipper will travel to Chennai from Ranchi on August 14 for a short camp before heading for the UAE. The franchise is arranging for a pick up of its cricketers based in and around Delhi and Mumbai. The chartered flight will pick up cricketers from Delhi to Mumbai and will then head to Ranchi to pick Dhoni and Monu Singh. The Super Kings will have a short camp at the Chepauk from August 15-20.

According to Mr Viswanathan, “I am getting updates through the media only, saying he has been training in Jharkhand in indoor nets. But we don’t have to worry about the skipper, boss. We don’t worry about him at all.”
He added, “He knows his responsibilities and he will take care of himself and the team.”

The 39-year-old cricketer has been on a sabbatical from cricket since the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup semi final clash against New Zealand at Old Trafford.
