IPL 2020: Chris Gayle tests negative for COVID-19 after attending Usain Bolt’s birthday

XtraTime Web Desk: Indian Premier League outfit Kings XI Punjab’s star opener Chris Gayle on Monday tested negative twice for COVID-19 after reportedly attempting Usain Bolt’s birthday bash in Jamaica.

Gayle had to undergo COVID-19 test after legendary sprinter Usain Bolt tested COVID-19 positive after celebrating his 34th birthday with a big bash mask-free in Jamaica.

Bolt said he took the test on Saturday, the day after he celebrated his birthday at a bash where partygoers danced to the hit “Lockdown” by Jamaican reggae singer Koffee.

Gayle took to social media to announce that he has been tested negative twice.

“Couple days ago. 1st Covid-19 test.. Before travel I need 2 negative test,” Gayle’s Instagram story said. In another post, Gayle wrote, “The last one went a bit too far in my nose. Phew. Result was negative.”

“I’m going to stay home for 2020 not gonna travel again nah sah! Tan a mi yard!! Keep the change! Excuse me!,” Gayle added.

Gayle is set to star in the upcoming edition of IPL for KL Rahul-led Kings XI Punjab. In IPL 2019, Gayle had scored 368 runs, bolstering the Punjab franchise’s top-order in the tournament.

Apart from Gayle, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey were the other sport stars who reportedly attended Bolt’s birthday party.

Daily confirmed cases in Jamaica have surged to more than 60 per day over the past four days from less than 10 just a few weeks ago. Jamaica now has 1,612 confirmed cases, with 622 active cases and 16 deaths from coronavirus.
