INDW vs AUSW: Smriti Mandhana scores her maiden test century; joins Virat Kohli

Xtra Time Web Desk: Indian women’s cricket team batter Smriti Mandhana scored her maiden test century against Australia women on Day 2 of the Pink Ball test at Metricon stadium on Friday. Mandhana scored 127 runs off 216 balls which included 22 boundaries and one six. She was caught by Tahlia McGrath off the bowling of Ashleigh Gardner with the score on 195/2. Mandhana was not on 84 on Day 1 which was interrupted due to rain.  

The Indian women’s team started on a positive note on Day 2 with both Punam Raut and Mandhana batting sensibly. At the time of writing this report India women are 205/2 with Raut batting on 33 (144) and Captain Mithali Raj not out on 5.

Mandhana joined Indian men’s captain Virat Kohli who also scored a hundred in his maiden Pink Ball Test appearance against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in 2019.
