Indian Wrestlers present five major demands at crucial meeting with Union Minister

XtraTime web desk: On Tuesday night at 12:47 am, the Central Sports Minister Anurag Thakur tweeted expressing his willingness to discuss the issues of wrestlers. In his tweet, he wrote, “The government is willing to have a discussion with the wrestlers on their issues. I have once again invited the wrestlers for the same.”

In response to this invitation, a group of prominent wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia and the Sakshi Malik, visited the residence of the Sports Minister on Wednesday morning. However, Vinesh Phogat, one of the prominent protesters, could not attend the meeting due to his engagement in a planned protest rally in Ballali village, Haryana.

During the meeting with the Central Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday, wrestlers presented a total of 5 demands.

These demands were as follows:

  1. Arrest accused Brij Bhushan and hold fresh elections in the wrestling association.
  2. Keep Brij Bhushan and his family away from the wrestling association for a lifetime.
  3.  FIR registered against them for allegedly violating law and order in connection with a scuffle that broke out at Jantar Mantar on April 28 be revoked..
  4. Ensure fair and impartial elections in the national wrestling association.
  5. Appoint a woman as the president of the wrestling association.
