Internet Desk: After two defeats in pre-Olympic practice matches at Madrid Indian men’s hockey team won their warm up match at Rio Sunday evening. However, the scoreline is not enough satisfactory five days ahead of their Olympic journey.

Sunday they beat Spain to whom they lost two games at Spain last week. The win in the warm up match against the same team gained some mental strength for Indian hockey team. They won it by a margin of 2-1.

After winning the warm up Indian captain P.R. Sreejesh said, “The weather was very hot in Spain. We were coming from very good weather in Bengaluru and it was very hot and humid, almost 40 degrees in Madrid. So it was good to get a game in Rio against Spain and we played well.”

It was a match of three quarters Sunday. However, India showed excellence through their pace and shots. Both the teams took the match with full importance. As a result India faced good challenge from Spain. Two Indians scored from Indian side were Akashdeep and Rupinder Pal. One of the two goals was scored from corner.

However, the team is still suffering from scarcity of chairs, tables and television sets. Chef de Mission Rakesh Gupta promised them to meet their needs as soon as possible.
