India tour to West Indies 2023: Sanju Samson likely to be included for white ball series

Xtra Time Web Desk: With the ICC World Test Championships 2023 Final over, the focus now shifts to the 50 overs World Cup which will be staged in India from October 5 to November 19. The Indian team will travel to the Caribbean to play a full series. Apart from three tests, the Men in Blue will play three ODIs and 5 T20Is. The selectors are likely to recall a few players who have done well in IPL 2023.

With Rishabh Pant still injured and very likely to miss the World Cup, the selectors are likely to recall Sanju Samson in the white ball squad. He will be the second wicketkeeper along with Ishan Kishan. Selectors could also give an opportunity to Umran Malik who has not had a good IPL 2023 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He played just 8 games out of 14 for Sunrisers. Arshdeep Singh will also be in the white ball squads.

KS Bharat is likely to retain his place in the Test squad despite his un-impressive performance with the bat in the WTC Final at the Oval. Seniors like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are likely to be rested for the five T20Is. The T20I squad is likely to be led by Hardik Pandya.

Pace spearhead Mohammed Shami can be rested for the tour while Mohammed Siraj will be used sparingly in order to keep him fresh for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup matches.

Both Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are undergoing their rehab and will be included if they are fit and available.
