India tour to West Indies 2023: Pujara dropped, Yashasvi & Mukesh new faces in test squad

Xtra Time Web Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced the Test and ODI squads for the upcoming series against West Indies. The selectors chose to drop Cheteshwar Pujara from the test squad.

Mumbai batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was in the reserves for the World Test Championship final, has been included. Additionally, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar, and Navdeep Saini have also found their place in the squad. Mohammed Shami, on the other hand, will be rested for this tour. Ajinkya Rahane has been appointed as Rohit Sharma’s deputy for the Test series.

Rohit Sharma will continue as the captain for the ODI series, leading a talented squad that includes Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Surya Kumar Yadav. Hardik Pandya will serve as the vice-captain, while Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan will take on wicketkeeping duties. The bowling department will be reinforced by Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.
