Xtra Time Web Desk: The first test match between India and South will be played in front of empty stands at Supersport Park in Centurion. In a bid to curb the threat of the spreading of Omicron virus, Cricket South Africa has issued a directive not to allow fans in the stadium for the first test match of the series.

The Indian team have already started practising at Centurion since their arrival in South Africa last week. The Indian players and support staffs had undergone quarantine in Mumbai before travelling to the rainbow nation.

As per local media reports, the Supersport Park have not put out any tickets for sale with the South African government implementing fresh protocols in the wake of the COVID-19 threat. According to Rapport, while current Covid-19 restrictions as implemented by the government allow for 2 000 fans, Cricket South Africa (CSA) will not be putting any tickets on sale.

No tickets have been put up for sale for the Second Test at the Wanderers, with the official Twitter account for the stadium saying: “At this point, it isn’t clear if fans will be allowed. We will make further announcements in due course.”.

The first test match of the series is scheduled to kick off on Boxing Day at the Supersport Park.
