India at Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu loses semi-final to Tai Tzu-Ying, to fight for bronze

Xtra Time Web Desk: Heartbreak for Indian fans as star shuttler PV Sindhu lost her semi final match against Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying in badminton women’s singles at Tokyo Olympics on Saturday. The No 6 seed Sindhu lost in straight games to second seed Tai Tzu 18-21, 12-21 in 40 minutes. Sindhu will now face He Bingjiao in the bronze medal match on Sunday.

It was an evenly contested first game with Sindhu taking an early lead. But Tai Tzu who is playing her third Olympics came back strongly to take the game 21-18. In the second game though it was total domination from the Chinese Taipei shuttler playing her drop shots to perfection. She won the game 21-12. Sindhu had no answers to Tai’s placements, varieties and her sumptuous crosscourt drops. Just quality from world no.1
