ICC CWC 2019: A new record for ‘Universal Boss’ Chris Gayle

Xtratime Web Desk: West Indies batsman Chris Gayle sets another World record as he hit most number of sixes in the World Cup history.

The ‘Universal Boss’ will bid adieu to the International cricket as he overtook South African AB de Villiers who hit 37 sixes in 23 matches.

Gayle now has 40 sixes under his belt in the 27 World Cup matches after scoring 34-ball fifty studded with six fours and three sixes.
Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting features third on the list with 31 sixes to his name in 46 matches followed by Kiwi wicketkeeper-batsman Brendon McCullum (29 sixes in 34 matches) and Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa (28 sixes in 25 matches).
Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Sri Lankan great Sanath Jayasuriya are tied at the fifth place with 27 sixes in 45 and 38 matches respectively.
