XtraTime Web Desk – After three consecutive victories, ATK Mohun Bagan is up and running. They look like an unstoppable force as their defence looks rock solid and their main man, Roy Krishna has already won the hearts of the Mariners.
When asked about the secret of their success, coach Antonio Lopez Habas said, “It’s very important to start in the competition with three clean sheets. The team had confidence, progressed and improved. This is the best way to improve (keeping clean sheets). The second thing is tactical discipline and effort”.
ATK Mohun Bagan will have to face three opponents in a very short period of time. With the hot and humid weather of Goa, can ATK Mohun Bagan remain unbeaten going forward? To which Habas replied, “It’s very difficult for the players to recover. Only 3-4 days is very tough but I think we have a good squad and we are prepared. Maybe we have change the first 11”.
ATK Mohun Bagan will face Jamshedpur FC on Monday, just 3 days after their match against Odisha FC. Coach Habas expressed his disappointment but said he/his team won’t give any excuse. He said, “Yes, we need time to recovery. The first day you have to train to correct the mistakes from last match and immediately the next day you have to prepare what’s the mass plan for the next match. This is the competition. This is the covid football situation. We can’t give excuses”.
Coach Habas then gave an update on Edu Garcia and David Williams’ injury. He said, “They are improving in their injury process but the injury process is serious. I have the idea that they can play the next match”.
ATK Mohun Bagan has played three matches so far and Roy Krishna has been the X factor in all three matches. Coach Habas however doesn’t think it’ll put Roy Krishna into any kind of pressure. “Roy Krishna is a fantastic player. He is a fantastic scorer. He has the right mentality and strong mentality. I think that, Roy Krishna doesn’t have any pressure”.
There’s always a chance for improvement. For any team in the world. Coach Habas then talked about the areas his team needs to improve. “I think we have to improve the way we create chances. In the centre midfielder department. Our team strength is everyone will defend and everyone will attack. So maybe we need more creativity in the centre midfield department”.
Speaking about their opponent Jamshedpur FC, two-time ISL winning coach said, “I think Jamshedpur will be a difficult team for us. They have to win because they have the pressure. In this league, all team are in similar condition. Every team have a squad with good players and now is very difficult to win against anyone. I think it’ll be a difficult match”.
