I League : Mohun Bagan’s Subhash Singh doubtful for derby

Subhash-Singh-02Kolkata , December 28 : Prolific winger,Subhas Singh who was recently signed by defending I League champions Mohun Bagan is out for at least 3-4 weeks after suffering a knee injury in a practice match against BSF North Bengal. A recent MRI report revealed that the striker is likely to  miss Mohun Bagan’s opening few matches including the derby on  January 23 .

Subhas was signed on loan by Mohun Bagan from ISL franchise Mumbai City FC . Mohun Bagan is scheduled to host Aizawl FC on 9th January in Salt Lake Stadium. With Subhas  getting injured and Haiti international Sony Norde likely to arrive in Kolkata after January 09 , Bagan coach Sanjay Sen will have his task cut out against the I League debutants .

Former East Bengal defender Raju Gaikwad joined Mohun Bagan  practice today. Raju who was plying his trade with FC Goa in the recently concluded ISL would bolster the Bagan  defence . Raju , who was with the Red and Golds from 2011 was not retained this season . The defender is out to prove his critics wrong this season, “ I am very happy to have signed for Mohun Bagan. Only time will prove that I am not finished yet.”

Meanwhile Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen  took a dig at the AIFF for not providing the revised  rules and regulations for  the upcoming I-league season , “It’s a very unprofessional and lackadaisical attitude I must confess . Even for a local tournament  rules and regulations are provided to the participating teams much before the start of the tournament .”

Bagan coach would not  like to have the fate of  Chelsea this season . “ I know it will be a challenging task to defend the title we won last season . But we are not going to hold back  and relax as we definitely do not wish to have the fate of  Chelsea this season .”

On the other hand East Bengal’s  new recruit , goalkeeper TP Rehensh started practice from today. Rehenesh have joined the Red and Gold ranks following an impressive season with the ISL franchise North East United FC . The Kerala custodian had four clean sheets from 12 appearances for North East , despite his team failing  to qualify for the semi finals. With Amrinder Singh extending his contract with Bengaluru FC , East Bengal were desparete to sign Rehenesh . The 22 years old has been a revelation in the Indian Super League this season . The Kerala born goalkeeper is excited to get an opportunity to play in Kolkata,”It’s like a dream come true for me , to be playing for a big club like  East Bengal . I always had the desire to play in Kolkata .”

CS Sabeeth who had earlier signed for East Bengal also  joined the practice . Sabeeth played for FC Goa this season in the ISL .
