Internet Desk: Sporting Lisbon made a historic signing of a five year old fan Francisco for this season. The little Sporting fan is suffering from cancer and the club showed the best way of charity through this charity.
It was not a mere show off by the club. Sporting Lisbon practically penned him a contact for this year. He was delivered his jersey. On Sunday there was a pre-season friendly match of the Sporting Lisbon against Lyon. Francisco literally took part in that match.
Francisco walked out with the team for their first match of the new season. He was honoured with the captain’s arm band. He led the team and kicked off the match of the team of which he is a big fan.
‘We have the pleasure of signing Francisco, whose job it is to kick off the first match of the season”, said President of Sporting Lisbon, Bruno de Carvalho. Carvalho spend full time for a photo shoot with the young fighter. Later photos were posted on twitter.
“He is the big signing of the night,” de Carvalho said. “He is a big name who will show everyone what Sporting is all about. The club is 110 years old and it is with people like Francisco that we will easily last another 110.”
It shows that despite the pressure of top level football, some teams remain capable of pulling out all the stops for those who need it most.
