Here are 5 Indian cricketers who overcame personal tragedies to set examples of unreal commitment

Xtra Time Web Desk : The recent twin tragic incidents that occurred to Baroda’s Vishnu Solanki across the past few days, shook up Indian cricket fraternity to say the least. But this is not the first time that cricketers have come out against all odds and tragedies to make their way through to the top. Instead there have been quite a few such incidents which have taken the gentlemen’s game to a great height.

And here are 5 such exemplary cricketers who overcame their personal tragedies to be the best version of theirs :

Mohammed Azharuddin : In 1984, just a few days before his Team India debut, Azhar recieved the tragic news of his grandfather’s death. The former India captain went on to score 3 centuries in his first 3 Tests to show unbelievable character and strength of mind.

Manoj Tiwary : During the Indian Premier League 2017, the former Bengal captain lost his father. But the right hand batter showed incredible commitment to come back and perform well for his then franchise, Rising Pune Supergiants.

Mandeep Singh : The Punjab batter’s father passed away in 2020 when he was playing in the Indian Premier League for Punjab Kings. But despite this tragic loss, the former RCB batter played a match winning knock against Kolkata Knight Riders and helped his team to win that important clash.

Chetan Sakariya : During the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy 2021, the young Team India pacer lost his brother in what was a tragic incident. But the huge tragedy couldn’t stop the youngster from performing well in the Indian Premier League, which proved to be the reason for his India debut against Sri Lanka in 2021.

Mohammed Siraj : The fierce speedster from Hyderabad lost his father when he was in Australia, touring with Team India’s Test squad. The 27 year old, despite this tragedy of his went on to make his debut for the country and played a huge role in clinching the Border Gavaskar trophy 2020-21 against a full fledged Aussie side on Australian soil.
