Harbajan Singh advices Ajinkya Rahane not to copy Virat Kohli’s style in the Australian series

XtraTime Web Desk – The former Indian spinner Harbajan Singh adviced Ajinkya Rahane to carry his own personality and it to be a mistake to follow Virat Kohli’s ideology and leadership style in the final three tests against Australia.

The flamboyant and aggressive style of Virat will be replaced by a calm and cool person, Ajinkya Rahane. This is where Harbajan Singh advised him not to follow the aggressive style of Virat and to lead India the way he is comfortable with.

“He’s very calm and composed, not so expressive. He’s very different to Virat Kohli. I would like to remind Rahane that he doesn’t need to change his game or personality” – Bhajji said.

He also added, “Looking at a personality like Virat, Rahane might think that he has to adopt some of it to beat Australia. But I don’t think that’s necessary. All Rahane needs to do is be himself and make sure he gets the best out of his team”.

Under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, Team India beat Australia 2-1 in the 2018-2019 season. Virat Kohli’s form was very crucial in that series and he delivered. His performance in Australia proves how vital he is for the Indian team.

Speaking about missing Virat for 3 test matches, Bhajji said, “Virat has an unbelievable record in Australia, something every batsman aspires. So definitely India is going to miss Kohli in the batting unit.
Then his experience as captain. His aggression, leading from the front, that is Virat Kohli. He always puts his best foot forward. His body language, his intent … India is going to miss him”.

The ODI and T20 series will be starting from 27th of November where both the teams will face each other in 3 ODI’s and T20 matches before moving to the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
