Xtra Time Web Desk: Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill has been going through the form of his life. The stylish batter scored his maiden IPL ton against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Monday night. Gill smashed his way to 101 off just 58 deliveries. His knock included 13 hits to the fence and one six.
Heaping loads of praises on Shubman’s knock, star India batter Virat Kohli posted a picture of Gill with a caption.
“There is potential and then there’s Gill. Go on and lead the next generation. God bless you Shubman Gill,” Kohli wrote on his Instagram story.
Gill is now the second highest run scorer in IPL 2023 behind Faf du Plessis of RCB who has scored 631 runs so far. Shubman has scored 576 runs from 13 matches which included 4 half centuries and 1 hundred. In addition to this, Shubman has scored hundreds across the three formats and a double century in the ODIs against New Zealand in 2023.
Meanwhile, the win against Sunrisers saw Gujarat Titans becoming the first team to qualify for playoffs stage of the IPL 2023. Hardik Pandya led side will play their final group stage game against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on May 21.
