Liverpool Football Club is set to honour the memories of late footballer Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva with a permanent memorial at Anfield. Named "Forever 20," the tribute will be officially unveiled ahead of the first anniversary of their tragic passing.
Designed by renowned sculptor Emma Rodgers, the artwork features a flowing heart-shaped sculpture inspired by Jota's iconic goal celebration. The design also incorporates the jersey numbers worn by the two brothers—20 and 30—creating a lasting symbol of their bond. The memorial also includes lyrics from the popular chant dedicated to Diogo Jota by Liverpool supporters.
Following the brothers' fatal road accident on July 3, 2025, thousands of fans gathered at Anfield to pay tribute by leaving flowers, scarves, shirts, banners, greeting cards, and handmade artwork at the site. Some of those heartfelt tributes have now been permanently embedded into the structure of the memorial, preserving the emotions and memories shared by supporters.
The base of the sculpture has been crafted using special stone brought from Gondomar, Portugal, the brothers' hometown, adding a deeply personal connection to the monument.
One flower left by a supporter has been cast in bronze and incorporated into the memorial, ensuring that an individual act of remembrance becomes a permanent part of the tribute. Reflecting Diogo Jota's passion for video games, a PlayStation controller has also been included as a symbolic element, alongside references to his famous goal celebration.
Special colour finishes on the sculpture represent the colours of the Portuguese flag while also paying tribute to the clubs that shaped Jota's footballing journey.
Liverpool believes that "Forever 20" will stand as a lasting symbol of love, unity, and remembrance, ensuring that the legacy of Diogo Jota and André Silva continues to inspire future generations.
