Kolkata: Good news for all the football fanatics as Mohun Bagan head coach Sanjoy Sen has undergone a successful bypass surgery today. The Green and Maroon gaffer was admitted to a private hospital with high breathing problem last night. Renowned cardiologist Dr. Kunal Sarkar advised him that he needs a bypass surgery as soon as possible.

Under the supervision of Dr. Kunal Sarkar, the other doctors took him to the operation theatre today around 9am. Almost after 7 hrs the doctors came from OT and announced that they have successfully completed the bypass surgery of Sanjoy Sen. According to the Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Sen’s three arteries were blocked and that’s why he was suffering from high breathing problem. The doctors will keep him under observation for 48 hours, that’s why they will transfer him to ITU (Intensive Therapy Unit) in an hour’s time. After that period he will taken to the General bed. As per Dr. Sarkar this operation won’t affect his coaching career and he can return to the field in a few weeks time. They will discharge him from the hospital after an observation of eight or nine days. Many Mohun Bagan supporters and renowned footballers were present at the hospital to pray for him. Former woman footballer Kuntala Ghoshdastidar and Shanti Mullick were present during the operation. His family and childhood friends from Chetla Agrani were also present to pray for his good health. After knowing the news that Sanjoy Sen is critically ill his wife too get unconscious and was taken to the SSKM hospital for treatment. After feeling a bit well she too came to the hospital during his operation.

After the operation, while taking to www.xtratime.in Dr. Kunal Sarkar said,”We will keep him in ITU for next 48 hours for observation then he will be taken to general bed. If we see that he has recovered well we will discharge him in 8 pr 10 days time.  He had three blockages in his  arteries that’s why it took such a long time to operate. He is responding quite well now and I think that if he takes complete rest for a month, it will be easy for him to get back on field in the month of October.”

According to Sanjoy Sen’s family, he is mentally very strong and if they see him joining the squad on October 2 they won’t be surprised at all.

Mohun Bagan is currently facing Rainbow FC in a CFL 2017 encounter. The supporters have came to watch the game with Sanjoy Sen’s placard, which states ‘Get Well Soon’ Sanjoy Sen.
