Failing to own an IPL team, Manchester United owners confirm buying team in UAE league

Xtra Time Web Desk: The owners of Manchester United, Glazers have confirmed buying a team in UAE T20 League. As per reports, the Glazers purchased a franchise in the UAE T20 league which is scheduled to start next year. The Glazers brought the team through their parent company Lancer Capital. The Manchester United owners were earlier linked to buying one of the two new IPL teams.

“I am very excited to be a part of UAE T20 at its formation. UAE T20 promises to be a world-class event that will be transformative to the growth of cricket in the Emirates,” said Avram Glazer, chairman of Lancer Capital.

The UAE T20 league also have teams owned by Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals.

The UAE T20 League is sanctioned by Emirates Cricket Board. The six-team League is scheduled to be held in February and March. A total number of 34 matches will be played in UAE T20 League.
