Kolkata: Syrian Play-maker Mahmoud Al Amna has appeared to be the newest star in Kolkata football after his magical performances in the Calcutta Football League this season. The new heart-throb of the East Bengal fans spent his first Eid at Kolkata since he came to the city. In an interaction with www.xtratime.in correspondent Sabyasachi Bagchi, Amna shared his feelings on the auspicious day.

XT: How has been your Eid celebration today?

Amna: Oh it’s wonderful. It’s a beautiful city here in Kolkata. There was a time when I could not spend the auspicious occasion with my wife and two daughters for the war-pricked Iraq. But today it was really wonderful. My wife cooked special biriyani for us.

XT: People have started comparing you with the great Majid Biskar. What’s your take on it?

Amna: I don’t know much about him. Was he a legend? Then I’m really happy to know that the fans have started to love me. I’ll be trying to maintain the form throughout the season.

XT: East Bengal have never won the I-League title. What do you think about it?

Amna: I don’t know the exact reason. But this time it will be a different East Bengal in the I-League. Khalid is a great professional and we are resolved to do something special.

XT: What do you want to say about Khalid?

Amna: Khalid has been a great friend of mine. He is one of the reasons why I have come here. Firstly, I want to win the CFL title and then will be dedicating to him.
