Every hundred I score in international cricket is special for me: Rishabh Pant

XtraTime Web Desk: India’s young wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant hit a blistering ton in Sydney on Friday to help the Men in Blue a massive total on board in the first innings of the fourth Test against Australia. He remained not out on 159 runs which he hit in just 189 deliveries. Before this he hit his maiden test ton in England. Though it’s very tough to score a ton in any contingent but Pant didn’t want to think about which one is special.

“Every hundred I score in international cricket is special for me because I have just started my career. But the main thing is that I don’t think about hundreds. I just always think about only one thing – what the team needs from me. That’s the only goal I have,” said Pant while talking to the media at the end of day 2 play.

Talking about his knock the left-handed Delhi batsman said that he was really nervous after entering the 90s and was relieved to cross the three-figure mark eventually.

“I was a little nervous because when we were playing in India against the West Indies, in the last two innings I got out on 92 both times. I was scared slightly but I got through that phase early.

“I loved my celebration I didn’t think that I’ll do something like that, whatever expression came out of me I just did that,” Pant said at the press conference after the day’s play.

On being asked about his banter with Aussie captain Tim Paine, Pant said,” That is also one of the methods to keep yourself positive, to keep yourself busy. When you are fielding for a long time, everyone’s body does get tired but you need to find a way to keep yourself positive and stay concentrated. My method is this, and it works for me, that’s why I am doing it.”
