Xtra Time Web Desk: Bruno Fernandes scored a brace while Cristiano Ronaldo was also on target as defending champions Portugal warmed up for Euro 2020 with a 4-0 drubbing against Israel at Estadio Jose Alvalade on Wednesday night. Joao Cancelo scored the other goal for Portugal.

The hosts looked in total control right from the start and it was only a matter of time before they went in front in the 42nd minute as Joao Cancelo got down the right flank and found Bruno Fernandes, who made no mistake to score.

The Manchester United midfielder then turned provider for Portugal’s second two minutes later by feeding Ronaldo. The talisman shot a pile driver that proved too much for Israel keeper Ofir Marciano. It was also Ronaldo’s 104th goal for Portugal. He is now 5 goals shy of overtaking all time leading scorer Iran’s striker Ali Daei.

The home side scored their third goal in the 86th minute thanks to a moment of brilliance from Cancelo, who cut inside from the right wing to curl the ball into the far corner with his left foot.

Bruno Fernandes added to his tally in the injury time with an impressive solo strike of his own in added time, unleashing a shot from outside the box which rocketed into the top corner.

The European champions will begin their title defence in Euro 2020 against Hungary on Tuesday in Group F
