ENG vs NZ: Williamson doubtful for 2nd test, BlackCaps to make major changes ahead of WTC Final

Xtra Time Web Desk: New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is doubtful for the second test match against England which will start at Edgbaston in Birmingham from June 10. The BlackCaps management is also likely to make some major changes for the 2nd test keeping in mind the ICC World Test Championship Final against India. Changes will be mostly in the fast bowling department as indicated by BlackCaps Head Coach Gary Stead. As far as Williamson injury is concerned, a final call will be taken after the training session on Wednesday.

Left arm spinner Mitchell Santner has been ruled out after he cut his left index finger. Meanwhile, pace spearhead Trent Boult is all set to make a comeback for the sake of match practice ahead of the ICC WTC Final against India. The Blackcaps confirmed the injury updates in a tweet:

In the first Test, New Zealand had played Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Kyle Jamieson and Colin de Grandhomme as pacers. Stead indicated that all the bowlers will not be featuring in the second Test.

Following the series against England, New Zealand will lock horns against India in the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC), beginning June 18 at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton.
