Internet Desk: In an emotional gesture the Indian Cricketers spotted their mother’s name the back of their jerseys in the series decider at Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
Just before the start of the One Day International series against New Zealand, the BCCI partnered with an entertainment channel in its “Naayi Soch” campaign which served as a tribute to all the women across the globe for their dedication and priceless contribution in our lives. Indian cricketers like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane came forward to support this heart-warming campaign, which questioned various societal stereotypes that hold women back. As India has taken on New Zealand in the 5th and final One Day International at Vizag, all the 11 players were seen sporting their mothers’ name on their jersey. This heart-warming gesture was appreciated by everyone around the world.The twitter too lauded this amazing initiative. The moment commentator and former cricketer Ravi Shastri spoke to MS Dhoni at the toss, the Indian Captain was full of pride of the fact that all the players were wearing their mother’s name in the crucial game in series which is now balanced at 2-2. The Indian Skipper went on to say they had always been wearing their father’s names on their backs and it was high time that their mother received the respect they deserve. The gesture will no doubt create a special example for all the sportspeople who represent the country. The mothers too would have got emotional in such a special gesture.
