Xtra Time Web Desk: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee once again played an instrumental role in clearing the path for East Bengal’s participation in ISL 8. The Chief Minister met the representatives of both East Bengal and Shree Cement at the State Secretariat on Wednesday. Shree Cement was represented by secretary SS Khandelwal, chief finance officer S Yadav and senior manager Sandeep Kumar. Debabrata Sarkar and Sadananda Mukherjee attended the meeting for East Bengal. Biswa Majumder was present in the meeting on behalf of mediator.

The representatives of Shree Cement agreed to allow East Bengal to participate in the upcoming ISL 2021-22, in the presence of the Chief Minister. East Bengal officials too announced that they are ready to sign the final agreement of their joint venture with investor Shree Cement. The announcement was made in the presence of honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee.

With the agreement signed, the joint venture of Shree Cement and East Bengal is now legitimised. It also means that Shree Cement will now concentrate on team building and complete other formalities which are needed to make East Bengal play in the Indian Super League (ISL) season eight.

It was the West Bengal CM who took an initiative to get Shree Cement as investors for East Bengal, helping the club to play in the ISL. Once again Mamata Banerjee turned out to be the messiah for the Red and Gold brigade.
